How We Use Information

  • Contact you or the vehicle owners
  • Book appointments with our service department
  • Register vehicles, confirm your driver’s licence status, along with ID for test drives or confirm ownership when buying and selling vehicles
  • Complete finance and insurance documentation
  • Comply with laws and regulations e.g. recall notices, updating WOF details, changing vehicle ownership
  • For competitions and giveaways
  • When signing up for email updates

Besides our staff, we may share your information with:

  • NZTA or other regulatory agencies e.g. for vehicle change of ownership or WOF renewals
  • Our franchise partners
  • Our finance and insurance partners if you are applying to purchase products from them
  • Our marketing partners e.g. for service offers

This information is shared in order to complete servicing, repairs, warranty, and recall work, or when buying and selling vehicles. We also provide limited data to our marketing partners when undertaking marketing campaigns. You will be given the opportunity to opt out of our marketing campaigns.

Your personal information will not be sold and we will not share it with external parties except when necessary for order fulfilment or when required by law. In the event of a criminal investigation or a suspected illegal activity, we may be required by law enforcement agencies to share certain personal information.

We may use non-identifying and aggregated information to improve our website and share with our advertising agencies. For example, we may tell an advertising agency that X number of individuals visited a certain area on our website, or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form, but we would not disclose anything that could be used to personally identify those individuals.

We may also use these e-mail addresses to provide order status and order tracking information, and to respond to queries. You can register with our website if you would like to receive updates on news , events, or new products or services.

If you choose to register or receive products or materials from us, or to otherwise give us personal information, we may store some or all of that personal information and use it for marketing research and marketing purposes. For example, to notify you of special offers or programs you might find of interest. We use return e-mail addresses to answer the e-mail we receive.

Finally, we never use or share personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

 General Statement on Access to Information

Your name and address may be obtained from the motor vehicle register. MS Motors Motors Limited is authorised as a registered motor vehicle trader to access this information under the standard terms and conditions for motor vehicle traders under Gazette notice: 2022-au4073.

We have been authorised to obtain and use the information for the following purposes:

a)       To confirm the vendor is a registered person of a motor vehicle that we (the Motor Vehicle Trader) are proposing to purchase,

b)      To assist in verifying that a change of registered person has been completed correctly for transaction in which the Motor Vehicle Trader is the purchaser or sell,

c)       In the case of Wholesalers only, where a motor vehicle is subject of a safety recall, listed in the safety recalls portal, to contact the registered person to advise them of any required actions in relation to the vehicle’s safe operation.
